The Ryder Racing Stage 1 short block “The Daily” is perfect for the lightly modified car used as a daily. As everyone has seen the Subaru engine is prone for piston ring land failure and bearing failure, this can be as a result of oil starvation, excessive blow by or poor factory clearances.“The Daily” utilises your OEM STI Short block (EJ257) case halves (subject to condition), your rods are removed and crack tested, shot peened and fitted with ARP2000 bolts. Pistons are upgraded to Manley Platinum forged items much stronger than the factory items. The case bores are machined to 99.75mm to ensure correct fitment of the Manley pistons. The block is measured, balance and assembled using a new salt bathed Nitride Treated 2.5L STI crankshaft which is matched to King main and rod bearings. Clearances are double checked and the cases are bolted with new OEM case bolts and Threebond 1215 as per Subaru standards.

The Ryder Racing Stage 2 Forged Short Block “The Streeter” is designed for modified EJ25 and EJ257 Subaru engines that need slightly more solid internals. The Ryder Racing Streeter is the Stage 1 but with the addition of the Manley H-Beam forged connecting rods. The upgraded Manley rods enable higher engine loads produced by additional bolt on mods.
“The Sreeter” utilises your OEM STI Short block (EJ257) case halves (subject to condition), upgraded Manley H-Beam rods are fitted with ARP2000 bolts. Pistons are upgraded to Manley forged items, both are much stronger than the factory items. The case bores are machined to 99.75mm to ensure correct fitment of the Manley pistons. The Ryder Racing Stage 3 Short Block “The Tuner” starts with machining your EJ255 or EJ257 case halves ready for close deck inserts. This creates the close deck block similar to the old and rare RS Turbo blocks. Small passages are drilled allowing coolant to flow to the deck surface while maintaining a solid deck. Our closed deck design has a one off doweling technique like no other to ensure no warping, sinking or floating.
The deck surfaces are machined to a perfect flat ready for your heads, next the bores are honed to 99.75mm for Manley Platinum Light Weight Pistons which have a Moly skirting and Chrome Moly wrist pins. The modified case halves are assembled using a new Subaru 2.5L Salt Bathed Nitride Treated STI crankshaft that is matched to King race main bearings. Manly H-Beam connecting rods and ARP2000 rod bolts are utilized with King race rod bearings. The case halves are sealed with new OEM main/case bolts and Threebond 1215 sealant. The Tuner includes -

The Ryder Racing Stage 4 Short Block “The Racer” starts with machining your EJ255 or EJ257 case halves ready for close deck inserts. This creates the close deck block similar to the old and rare RS Turbo blocks. Small passages are drilled allowing coolant to flow to the deck surface while maintaining a solid deck.
The deck surfaces are machined to a perfect flat ready for your heads, next the bores are honed to 99.75mm for Manley Turbo Tuff Pistons which have Moly skirting and Chrome Moly wrist pins. The case is then prepped for Ryder Racing 718 Series™ main dowels. The Ryder Racing 718 Series main dowel pins prevent the block from shifting and warping under high boost applications. Once they’re machined the pins are placed into these holes ready for assembly.
The modified case halves are assembled using a new Subaru 2.5L Salt Bathed Nitride Treated STI crankshaft that is matched to King main bearings. The Ryder Racing Stage 5 Short Block “The Extremist” starts with machining your EJ255 or EJ257 case halves ready for close deck inserts. This creates the close deck block similar to the old and rare RS Turbo blocks. Small passages are drilled allowing coolant to flow to the deck surface while maintaining a solid deck. These plates are fitted using a sold lid system to prevent any warping when they're being pressed into the case half. The plates also utelise a unique doweling system to locate and seat then correctly.
Case halves are machined to accept Ryder Racing 718 Series Head Stud Dowels, further machining and tapping is completed to accept Ryder Racing true 14mm head studs 380 nm proven. The additional thicker material (> 30%) head studs allow for heaver clamping of the heads preventing head gasket failures under any boost load. (Head studs Supplied with the block not fitted to minimise any damage during transportation.

Ryder Racing has been working in the shadows for the past 2 years, after numerous calls to develop our own close deck program we were apprehensive about the idea due to the failures of other reputable designs that are currently on the market. After a short discussion with Dave P (OMD Ryder Racing's official engineer) the solution was obvious, a completely new design! We combined everything which was shared with us and combined it with our engineering and innovation to come up with all the solutions for the failed closed deck programs out there.
Where others short cut we took it to the next level, using thinner plates to save machine time and plate cost was unacceptable, we start with a 30mm plate so we can press a one piece insert into the case halves, this stopped distortion and incorrect fitment issues. Where other companies haven't seated the insert correctly which either lifted or sunk we have a unique doweling system which works along side a shelving system to prevent "floating and warping". We are the first in the world to bring such innovation to the closed deck program.
We have incorporated a coolant passage system around the entire circumference of the bore which allows any gasket type or head design making them a perfect system for hybrid engines. We are now offering drilling and tapping for OUR 14mm head studs as well as CNC drilling for our 718 Series main web pinning which accommodates our 718 Inconel Dowles

The Ryder Racing forged Short Block “The Hybrid” is designed for those running an earlier model but not just limited to WRX GC, GDA and GDB, Liberty’s and Foresters with the EJ20. If you’re wanting to go bigger displacement we now have the perfect build for you! Using great ingenuity, we have the solution ready to bolt your standard 2.0L heads straight on.
The Ryder Racing long engine “The Hybrid” is designed to use your factory heads and manifolds to enable you to bolt the engine straight in without any modification. “The Hybrid” uses brand new OEM STI case halves (EJ257). Manley H beam rods are used to maintain the correct stroke and strength. Pistons are upgraded to Manley platinum forged items much stronger than the factory items. The block is measured, balance and assembled using a new salt bathed Nitride Treated 2.5L STI crankshaft which is matched to King main and rod bearings. Clearances are double checked and the cases are bolted with new OEM case bolts and Threebond 1215 as per Subaru standards.
Your heads are surfaced machined with the valve seats getting a once over to restore better than factory clearances, valve stem seals are replaced due to the aged items fitted. OEM head gaskets are fitted with the aid on ARP2000 head studs. The long motor has all timing gear fitted ready to be fitted to you Subaru.
